What age can my puppy start training?

Typically, it’s good to introduce light training and real-world exposure to your puppy between 8-16 weeks to keep them on track to live a healthy and behaved life.

How long are the training sessions?

The training sessions typically last 1 hour, and are carefully conducted to meet the demands that each dog requires.

What is Behavior Adjustment Training (BAT)?

Behavior Adjustment Training is a minimally intrusive approach to correcting dog behaviors and effectively teaching dogs social skills to live better lives around both humans and other dogs.

Why are prong and shock collars not allowed?

Along with being uncomfortable and at times extremely dangerous, prong and shock collars alike do not teach positive behavior. They instead attempt to deter unwanted behavior by way of force which is far less effective in dog training.

How to stop a dog from counter surfing?

Utilizing the “Off” command is an effective way to stop your dog from counter-surfing for food. It is also important to limit the triggers that are causing your dog to counter surf. Make sure to put away food when you are done with it, and don’t leave food items around where your dog likes to counter-surf.

What does ABCDT stand for?

ABCDT stands for Animal Behavior College Dog Trainer. It is a respected, and often times required, certification when looking for a professional dog trainer.

What does heel mean when training a dog?

“Heel” is a common command for reinforcing your dogs obedience, demanding it to take position with its’ shoulders parallel to yours and standing at the heel of your foot.

Why is my puppy regressing in potty training?

The two most common reasons for potty training regression in puppies are:

  • The puppy is young, and just like a human child they may forget what they have been taught. Positive reinforcement is the best way to handle this.
  • Puppies respond very well to consistent routines, so if a routine change takes place, the puppy may respond negatively.
